raf finmere

5 miles from my home are the remains of RAF Finmere, an airbase from WWII. Parts of the airfield are still in use, the hangers by a transport company, the runway by a Sunday market and a microlight school (not at the same time) and some of the buildings by a paintball company. A majority of the site is on private land but it's easy to wander round. Sadly only shells of a few buildings remain as well as parts of the control tower I get the feeling there's also an exstensive service tunnel network but until the water level drops I won't know for certain.
