Wycombe Heights
As reported yesterday, a massive fire broke out yesterday at High Wycombes ski slope.
The latest news is that the lift and the slope are still okay, but the entire building has been destroyed, with only one wall still standing. All office records, the shop and hire equipment have been destroyed.
Seven fire engines have been called to the scene at Wycombe Summit, High Wycombe at 10.55am on Tuesday and more than 50 firemen fought the blaze. The fire apparently started in the kitchen.
A spokesman for Bucks Fire and Rescue service said "We do not believe anyone was injured, although it is a massive fire."
The flames were visible from as far away at the M40 and nearby roads were closed. Ironically, given the sprinklers through the slope efforts to put out the flames were hampered by a shortage of available water as there were no fire hydrants close to the wooden structure.
